Your Questions are important to ThePillowPeddler.com

Is it true that wool contributes to better sleep?

Yes. According to sturdies, scientists believe that wool improves sleep because it absorbs the sweat human bodies produce during the night, keeping skin dry and comfortable. Other studies have shown that subjects sleeping with wool bedding experienced lower heart rates, indicating a deeper, more relaxed sleep.

What are the best pillows for neck support?

  • Orthopedic Neck Pillow has a neck bolster on each side, one thick and one thin so you have two comfort options.
  • The Neck Roll is another good option for neck support. A simpler version of the orthopedic pillow.
  • The Wool-wrapped Latex pillow has a firm latex core surrounded by soft wool batting. Great for side sleepers.
  • If you like just a little bit of neck support from a regular size bed pillow, try ourWoolly Down Pillow. It's malleable and can be formed to a desired shape; you could move more puffs to one side to create your own version of a neck roll. Keep in mind that the density of whatever shape you form will be less than in the more structured orthopedic and neck pillows.

Why is wool so special?

Wool has a long list of qualities that make it the ideal choice for comfy, healthy bedding.

  •  Dust Mite Resistant (dust mites avoid wool because it has a low-humidity microclimate)
  • Hypoallergenic, Antimicrobial, and Anti-bacterial
  • Breathable
  • Moisture wicking, allowing it to naturally regulate body temperature
  • Inherently fire resistant, eliminating the need for chemical fire retardants
  • Soft, supple, and cushiony

Does wool have a scent?

Wool has a mild natural scent which comes from lanolin, a natural oil that helps sheep regulate body temperature. Approximately 1% of the lanolin is intentionally left in the wool after the scouring and cleaning process. This ensures conditioning effects and increases the longevity and vitality of our wool. We find the majority of customers either don't notice a scent or find the natural scent to be mild, pleasant, and benign. If you're sensitive to smells, order a sample of our wool to see if it will work for you.

I may have a wool allergy. Can I use your products?

While very few people are allergic to wool, some are allergic to the 1% of the sheep’s natural lanolin intentionally left in to keep the wool supple. For those who are irritated by wearing wool, from finding it scratchy to breaking out in hives, such reactions are likely due to the fact that the majority of wool used in the garment industry has gone through a chemical carbonization process. Our wool is never carbonized and has never gone through any chemical processing, so this isn't an issue.

What is latex?

All-natural latex comes from the rubber tree.

Is it true that dust mites don’t like wool?

It is all about the microclimate. Because of wool's ability to absorb and release moisture, the fiber creates a microclimate with a lower relative humidity inhospitable to dust mites. This makes it a great choice if you have allergies to dust mites.
